Lasers work by removing your skin’s layers and burn the darkened layers of skin off. It sounds painful, but you will likely be numbed first. Ask your doctor about any side effects and keep in mind your skin will be red and irritated after for a while.

Other ingredients to look for and try

There are more natural ingredients to get rid of dark spots. Just keep in mind it may take a while for more natural products to work. Look for products that contain vitamin C, pomegranate extract, beta carotene, azelaic acid, and licorice extract. Brightening products are great for people with a lot of dark spots.

You may also want to learn to prevent dark spots from happening in the first place. Make sure that you always wear sunscreen and protect your skin from the sun. Talk to your dermatologist about your specific skin type and dark spots and ask for ways and products to prevent them.
