We have all experienced those pesky red bumps in our lives. Whether you call them zits, blemishes, bumps, acne or pimples, you’ve probably tried to get rid of them at one point. Unfortunately, even after your acne is gone, you may experience acne scars. You may have acne scars from a harsh medicine or picking and poking at the zits. The best remedy for stubborn acne scars is to visit your dermatologist and receive a laser treatment. However, if you are strapped for cash or want to try other remedies before you visit your doctor, try some of these tips.
If you want to go a more natural route, try some of these suggestions:
Use aloe vera from an aloe plant or buy natural aloe vera gel. Put on your face, especially on any scars and let sit for about 30 minutes. Then rinse. Aloe vera is a natural scar removal treatment because of its anti-inflammatory properties.1
Use a lemon for a natural skin brightener. Look for natural products that contain lemon juice or you can actually rub a fresh lemon on your skin and let the juice sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing off. Be careful not to get any lemon juice in your eyes. To make it easier, try squeezing lemon juice on a cotton ball and then rubbing the juice directly on your acne scars.1
Apple cider vinegar is also a great way to remove dead skin cells and lighten your skin, both of which help remove acne scars. Mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and water and apply on a cotton ball and rub on your scars. Rinse off after about 5 minutes.1
If you want to use a product from a beauty store, look for products like these:
Look for products that contain vitamin E, which can help even skin tone, repairs damaged tissue and moisturizes, all of which can help reduce scarring.1
You’ll also want to look for products with salicylic acid. Not only is it known to be great for reducing any new acne that pops up, it may help to heal acne scars as well. Salicylic acid is known to be great for unclogging pores as well.2
Make sure to moisturize well and stay hydrated to keep your skin healthy so it can effectively fight off acne and scarring.2
Try INLIGHTEN Spot Corrector & Brightening Serum + IR Defense. It will help even skin tone, reduce sun damage and help brighten your skin and correct those pesky spots.
Next, do all you can to prevent future damage. Make sure to use products with SPF and stay away from damaging skin’s rays, which can make acne scars worsen. If you continue to have acne, never pick or poke at your zits. Popping them can just cause scarring.2
Take time to pamper yourself and get a facial. Ask the skin specialist to focus on your acne scars. If you’d like a cheaper way, look for face masks that are focused towards lightening dark spots or removing scars for a way to pamper yourself at home.
Also, remember that newer scars can be easier to get rid of with products than old ones. Take care of any new acne scars that pop up right away. If you don’t, you might have a hard time getting rid of them in the future. Keep a scar cream or natural products in your house to use whenever you notice a new scar forming.
