It is no wonder celebrities always look put together and color coordinated. They know all the tricks of the trade. It’s not knowledge that is only available to them though. Have you ever wondered how to tell if you are cool-toned or warm-toned? Or even neutral-toned? Here are some basic characteristics and tips to find out:
What color are your veins? The easiest way to decipher the color of an individual’s veins is to look at the veins on the inside of the wrists and see if they are blue or green. If the veins appear to be blue or violet, the skin is cool toned. If the veins look green, that indicates the skin tone is warm. Sometimes it is hard to decipher the color of the veins, this means the skin is neutral toned. It is important to keep in mind that some individual’s skin tone might change with the seasons, as sun exposure has potential to alter skin color and tone temporarily.1
Sun exposure often makes the skin darker, however, it really brings out the undertones of an individual’s skin. People with cool tones are likely to acquire pink tones when exposed to the sun. Some cool-toned people will become darker with reddish pink tones, while others will not get darker at all. Warm tones, on the other hand, will more likely not burn or have those pink tones. Instead, warm tones will turn golden or more olive colored with sun exposure.1
What are your eye and hair colors? Cool-toned people typically have blue, grey, or green with blonde, brown, or blonde hair with platinum undertones. Brown or hazel eyes with blonde, Auburn, or brown hair with reddish undertones, are most likely warm-toned.1
What color do you look best in? Cool-toned skin colors look best complemented with blues, purples, and emerald greens. Warm-toned skin favor reds, oranges, yellows, and earthy greens. Neutral-toned skins can typically pull off all of the above colors. As far as jewelry is concerned, warm-toned individuals look best when wearing gold jewelry. Whereas cool-toned individuals will look best complimented wearing silver jewelry. Think of silver and gold with both clothing and jewelry. Although these tips are true for the majority, it is important to self-check different colors against the skin to be sure.1
