Natural Headache Cures


Headaches can be the worst and have a range of causes. If you aren’t willing to pop a painkiller every time you have a headache, you are probably interested in some natural, at home remedies. Here are some of our favorites:

  1. Try ginger tea. Ginger is a great home remedy that works equally well for headaches and nausea. Ginger helps reduce inflammation of blood vessels, which helps ease the pain of a headache and can help that queasy feeling you get with bad headaches or migraines. You can also try a paste of ginger powder and 2 tablespoons of water on the area of your headache for relief.1
  2. Use peppermint oil or drink peppermint tea. Peppermint is also a great headache and nausea reliever. Rub a few drops of peppermint oil on your temples and your neck. Dilute with almond or coconut oil if needed since peppermint oil can be very strong.1
  3. Make a paste with cinnamon and apply to your head. Ground cinnamon sticks into a powder and then add water to make it into a paste. Apply to your forehead and temples and relax. Wash off after about 30 minutes.1
  4. Use cold or hot therapy. If you have a migraine, apply an ice pack to the back of your neck. It can help reduce inflammation and numb the pain a bit. You can also try soaking your feet in hot water to reduce a headache’s sting. Alternating hot and cold water soaked towels on your head and neck can also help.1
  5. Use apples. Try eating an apple or add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water, add honey and lemon juice. You can also mix a half a cup of apple cider vinegar with a half a cup of water and boil. Then remove from heat and inhale the steam. It can help greatly with sinus headaches.1
  6. Learn to prevent headaches. Most headaches are associated with dehydration, an unhealthy diet, not enough exercise or stress. Aim to drink lots of water each day, eat a balanced diet, exercise at least 30 minutes 3 times a week and reduce your stress levels.1
