Superfoods for Every Skin Issue


Adding superfoods to your diet are great ways to help heal any skin issues and give yourself glowing skin by eating healthy. Here are some of the best foods to add to your diet for various skin issues:

For any skin types:

  1. Ginger contains antioxidants and has lots of anti-inflammatory properties that have a soothing effect on the skin. It also helps your digestive system. Gut issues can be a cause of skin issues, so be sure to take care of your digestion too.
  2. Chia seeds. Chia seeds are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids that help your body produce collagen, which is essential for smooth and wrinkle free skin.
  3. Tomatoes contain lycopene, which is an anti-aging antioxidant. Lycopene is more easily absorbed when cooked.

For acne:

  1. Oatmeal is better for you in the morning instead of cereal. Oatmeal is low on the glycemic index which means it gives you a steady, slow increase and decline in blood sugar instead of a high and then a crash. This can help you ward off inflammation and in turn, acne.
  2. Add foods like miso that contain probiotics that help your skin and digestive system work well and ward off issues like acne. Adding probiotic supplements and things like yogurt don’t work well if you don’t digest it well. Miso can give you the benefits without giving you gas that sometimes yogurt can.
  3. Artichokes contain a specific antioxidant called silymarin that can help clear up your skin.

If you have oily skin:

  1. Cinnamon improves circulation and blood flow. It also helps stabilize blood sugar, so you aren’t affected as much by sweet treats. This can help prevent oil production.
