During the summer months, it’s easy to let things slide a little and we may not be as vigilant about our normal routines. But the start of the new school year means back-to-school shopping, packed lunches and early morning alarm clocks. It also signals a change in weather so as the summer heat starts to cool off, now is a good time to once again focus on our skin and prepare it for cooler temps, which can easily dry us out.

Our hands and feet can really take a beating, so nighttime is a great time to get a little extra moisturizing in. Keeping a tube of lotion on your bedside is a great reminder, and pulling on a pair of cotton socks will help seal in the moisture and give you nice soft feet tomorrow morning.
Another essential element we need to accomplish healthy happy skin is drinking plenty of water, because even with the most perfect cleaners and lotions, dehydration will affect not only our organs but our skin. Taking in enough water is really imperative and adding fresh citrus fruit can give it that extra kick that takes it from bland to beautiful.
- Don’t over wash your face.
- Try moisturizing body wash.
- Put on lotion soon after you bathe when your pores are still open.
- Only exfoliate once or twice a week.
- Use lukewarm water.
- Keep a small tube of lotion with you for easy reapplication.
- Protect your skin against wind and cold as much as possible.
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
This is a really busy time of year, but we all need to get into our fall/winter skin routine before we get inundated with the holidays, which are just around the corner.
