Ah, the great eye cream debate. Some people believe strongly that eye creams are crucial to looking younger and reducing wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes. Others don’t think they really work and just think moisturizer is necessary. What do you think?
So, who really needs eye cream? Dermatologists admit that certain eye creams are not really much better than a moisturizer. If you have fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes, you do need some sort of extra moisturizer near your eyes.
Even if you don’t have many wrinkles around your eyes, you should still use a cream to prevent further damage. The skin around your eyes is the thinnest and fragile of any skin on your face. you need to be careful when you apply makeup or touch that area.
Whether or not you use eye creams or just moisturizer, the matter of the fact is that certain ingredients work. When looking to reduce wrinkles around your eyes, look for these ingredients when looking for new products:
- Retinol (Vitamin A) is proven to fight wrinkles and aging
- Vitamin C
- Hyaluronic acid
Remember that gels are more easily absorbed into the skin but creams are more heavy duty if you need more moisturization.
Make sure to use sunscreen to prevent further sun damage and aging. Always apply sunscreen of at least SPF 30 on your face and around your eye area. Look for an oil-free version to reduce breakouts too.
What’s your verdict? Do you use eye creams or do you think they aren’t necessary?
