Have you ever wondered how to get that natural skin glow? Some people just have that special glow about them, even without the help of makeup products. How do they do it? We are about to share their secrets with you! Here are some ways to try and make your skin glow at home, naturally:

  • Skip the long, hot showers. They may feel good now, but they have been known to strip your skin of essential oils that keep it moisturized, healthy and glowing. Switch it up by taking shorter showers with cooler water. As soon as you towel off, when your skin is still damp, apply a lotion or body oil.1
  • If the air is very dry, sleep with a humidifier in your room to maintain a good balance of moisture in the air and on your skin.1
  • Get lots of sleep to help your skin replenish itself in the night.2
  • Do your best to avoid things that can dull your skin and reduce your skin glowing efforts. These things include alcohol, caffeine and smoking cigarettes.2
  • Exfoliate your skin at least once a week to get rid of dull, dead skin cells and reveal glowing skin.2
  • Try smoothing olive oil or coconut oil on your face and extra dry areas like your elbows, knees and the back of your arms in the evening. Olive oil and coconut oil contains monosaturated fat, which can help moisturize your skin without leaving a greasy residue.1,2
  • Try some DIY face masks to make your skin glow with natural products. Here are some of our favorites:
    • Turmeric can help give you that glow you crave. Mix ½ – 1 teaspoons of turmeric powder with four tablespoons of gram (chickpea) flour. Add milk or water to form a paste and apply to your face and neck. Leave on for about 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse.2
    • Lemon is a natural brightener. Mix two teaspoons of lemon juice with two teaspoons of sugar. Apply to your face and then scrub in a circular motion. Leave on for about 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water.2
    • Grate a cucumber and add two to three tablespoons of yogurt. Beat with a mixer and apply to your face for a cooling mask. Leave on for about five minutes or until it dries. Rinse with cool water.2
    • Mash a ripe banana in two teaspoons of milk. Apply the mixture to your face and neck and leave on for about 15 minutes. Rinse and then apply an ice cube to your face to soothe and tighten.2
