Do you ever switch out your clothing with the seasons? Did you know you should be doing this with your skin care routine as well? As the seasons change from summer to fall, there are a few changes you should make in your skin care routine. Here are our favorite tips:
- Change your moisturizer. As the weather changes from muggy and warm to dry and chilly, your skin may need more moisture. Fall is a good time to prep your skin for a harsh winter and to switch to a thicker, more heavy-duty moisturizer. This is especially helpful if you were only using a serum in the summer or weren’t moisturizing much at all because you have oily skin.
- Start exfoliating more often. You might think of exfoliation as a way to scrub your way to summer skin, but exfoliation is very helpful in treating flaky and dry skin. Get a gentle exfoliator for your face and try a body scrub for your rough spots like elbows and feet. Aim to exfoliate all over once or twice a week.
- Take time to personalize your skin care routine. If you are unsure, see a dermatologist who can go over your specific skin needs based on your age, skin type and the climate you live in. This can help you find specific products that will work the best for your skin and the weather.
- Have some fun! As you shop for new products, look for new products and fun fall scents. You are more likely to stick to a skin care routine if you love the products you are using and the smell makes you excited to put them on. Make sure to test new products and scents on your skin before you use all over your face in case you are allergic to it.
