Skin Superfood Focus: Green Tea

Green Tea

On the Inside

Green tea contains strong antioxidants (polyphenols) which can be great for skin health and beauty. Drinking green tea regularly can help skin texture and appearance, and can reduce and prevent the inflammation that causes acne.  Some studies indicate it may even protect against skin cancer.  Don’t enjoy the taste of green tea?  You can also take green tea supplements which can provide you with many of the active ingredients found in green tea, so you don’t have to miss out on these great benefits!

On the Outside

Green tea contains properties that can be beneficial externally as well. Antioxidants and tannins have topical benefits for skin, reducing redness, inflammation, and signs of aging. It also contains vitamin K that can help reduce dark circles, heal blemishes, and may improve scars.  Here are a few easy ways to reap some of the topical benefits of green tea:

Puffy Eyes and Dark Circles?

Apply cool tea bags to your closed eyes for 15 minutes.  Apply Christie’s REFOCUS Under Eye Treatment afterward to further reduce puffiness, brighten skin tone and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Try a Soothing Facial

Make a mask by blending two green tea bags and honey, or green tea and yogurt.  Apply for 5-10 minutes and rinse thoroughly.  This can be a relaxing evening treat before applying Christie’s RECAPTURE 360 Night Anti-Aging Night Treatment.

Quick Morning Wake Up

Chill a couple of used green tea bags and rub lightly over your face and use as a toner to “wake up” your face in the morning.  Continue your morning routine with Christie’s  RECAPTURE 360 + IR Defense Anti-Aging Day Cream

Green Tea has been known for centuries to have many health benefits and healing properties, and can be a great addition to a healthy lifestyle. Give it a try!
