Selfies! How to Look Your Best Self

Taking your best selfie

Everyone seems to be taking and posting “selfies” these days, but how do some people always seem to get that picture perfect look?  Here are five tricks to looking like your best self in a selfie!

  1. Know Your Angles

Every celebrity and model knows their “good side” from their “bad side”.  Use your phone’s camera as a mirror to try different angles to figure out which ones are your most flattering.

  1. Lighting

Lighting is super important when trying to get the best selfie.  Many of the best selfies are taken outdoors, but bright sunlight can cause harsh shadows and cause you to squint or furrow your brow.  Experiment with the lighting in your home or try taking photos on an overcast day, which can soften shadows and give a more even light.  Another trick is to try taking a photo with the sun directly behind your head, giving you a pretty glow around you!

  1. Backgrounds Count

Pay attention to the background!  Unless you’re taking a selfie with the Eiffel Tower in the background, keep the backdrop simple and uncluttered.  Try posing in front of a simple curtain or blank wall to better highlight the subject – you!  A blue sky with a patch of clouds can also make for a pretty backdrop, just watch those harsh shadows!

  1. Bad Angles

Some people just have trouble finding that good angle to get a flattering selfie.  In this case, you can use a remote, a selfie stick, or even take mirror shots instead of ones with the camera turned around.

  1. Strike a Pose

Practice different poses and see how they affect how flattering your photos turn out.  Some poses that might feel unnatural or awkward can look really great in photos. Take lots (and lots) of pics and have fun!

Some selfies can be for posting on social media, but some are just for yourself.  When you start a new health routine or a new skincare regime like Christie’s Bio-Clock Activation System, make sure you take that “before” photo for yourself!  Taking periodic photos can give you a realistic benchmark on how things are working.  You’ll be amazed at the difference one month can make.  Take those before and after selfies and see for yourself!
